Scope:

  • Extension of the DICOM Standard to support photoacoustic imaging

Current Supplements, Work and Objectives:

  • Supplement for Photoacoustic imaging ready for first read by the committee

Challenges and Opportunities (Environment):

  • Corrections to PA text in 2023d release
  • Participation from the end-user community to assess the usability of the proposed amendments

Future Roadmap and Objectives (Committee Direction):

  • Promote PA
  • Tool updates - dicom3tools - partial PA support
  • Aliza viewer software has added our PA tag definitions
  • Follow up on discussion of need for Skin Context in PA (TID 8300 “Skin Imaging Acquisition Context, being updated in Supp 226) - CP may be needed

 

Past Work:

  • DICOM Supplement 229 was added to the standard in release 2023c and a pending Photonics Focus (SPIE) journal article Nov/Dec article about Supp 229
