Develop supplements to DICOM standard for dermoscopy, total body photography, and reflectance confocal microscopy imaging, and develop a supplement for Skin Lesion Tracking Structure Reporting.
Current Supplements, Work and Objectives
- Supplement 250 2D Total Body Photography [WI 2022-12-B] will be presented to WG-06 meeting in March 2026 seeking approval for Public Comment
- A draft supplement 3D Total Body Photography [WI 2022-12-B] is currently being developed. It is anticipated it will be presented to WG-06 for first read mid-2026.
- A NWIP for a Skin Lesion Tracking Structured Report will be presented to the Committee for consideration in early 2025
Challenges and Opportunities (Environment)
- DICOM standards for dermatology are being tested in real-world applications. A challenge will be maintaining existing standards when changes or corrections are identified by use.
- Lack of experience in developing a SR supplement will be a challenge when WG-19 attempts to develop a standard for Skin Lesion Tracking Structured Reporting.
Future Roadmap and Objectives (WG Direction)
- Progress supplements for 2D and 3D Total Body Photography
- Develop supplement for Skin Lesion Tracking SR
